Children and Early Childhood Trauma: Free Workshop for Early Childhood Educators & Parents (ADULTS ONLY)
Presented by Sarah Owens, SVSU Early Childhood Education Professor and Certified Trauma Practitioner-Education (CTP-E)
Stressed brains can’t learn. Stressed children can't connect. Increasing knowledge on the prevalence of trauma and its direct effect on learning is reshaping the way parents, educators and other service providers prioritize basic needs. This interactive presentation will invite participates to continuously be reflective on their personal experiences as we examine the variety of ways in which trauma and toxic stress can occur. We will learn how trauma and toxic stress influence the developing brains and bodies of our children throughout their lifespan and how the behaviors and decisions we see from ourselves and our children are connected. Participants will leave with practical, every day-ready to use strategies to support children's learning and healthy social-emotional development
All attendees will receive a signed certificate of attendance. No childcare provided.
